Hey Scotty,

Big fan. I was wondering what you think about the Mitsubishi RVR 2012 and up?

I was looking to see if you have a video on that one but haven't count it yet.

Should I buy a Mitsubishi (...) Mitsubishi RVR 2012 and up?

No.

Why would you want a discontinued absolute sad pile of trash from a company that doesn't exist anymore?

The transmission here is the F1CJC CVT, also known as the Jatco JF016E CVT - that exact same HORRID thing as in the 2nd gen Nissan Rouge!

It only made sense a few years ago, when they discounted these by many thousands and offered long waranties - now that the RVR (ASX) is dead, and Mitsubishi motors as a whole is too? makes 0 sense.

AVOID like wildfire - not wroth anything even close to a decent car.

Getting parts might be very hard in a few years, and it's a Mitsubishi, it'll need those parts.

Renualt-Nissan bought the failing Mitsubishi and hollowed it out.

and up

The "next generation" RVR (ASX), that replaced the car you're probably looking at - is a Renualt.

A Renault Captur to be exact, the crossover version of France's best selling mini car.

And the Renault Captur is very far from being a good car in it self - the PREVIOUS generation had a dry clutch DCT with the unbeatable 1.5 Renault diesel, and it was decent, except for clutch packs lasting only ~75k miles and some owners needing to shell out for shift motors later on, it was a decent $13k mini crossover.

But on this generation lacks a powertrain I'd even consider, maybe only if the e-power proves it self in 5-10 years - which I have serious doubts if it ever will, since the best part of that powertrain the 1.6 Renualt H4M engine is on the chopping block as far as I know and is scheduled to be replaced by a next generation GDi pile of trash.

They didn't even bother with the body work, just gave it an ugly grill.

Like they really didn't bother at all - the reverse camera sticks out on it.

(on the Renualt it's neatly integrated into the Renault badge, the ASX doesn't have that badge so it's just an ugly hump on the tailgate)

I guess the metal stamping had a place for the Renault badge they decided that they won't bother since the Mitsubishi logo alone is enough to scare off most buyers anyway?

On of the worst rebadging jobs I saw in a while.

My first car was a 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer. That car was a piece of junk. Getting parts was a pain in the neck. The car kept breaking down and I eventually decided to sell the car. It had like 155k miles. I recently checked the VIN number of the car wondering if the person who bought my lancer is still driving and I found out the car is in a Junkyard now. Lol. Please never buy a Mitsubishi. I had to unfortunately learn it the hard way. Get a Toyota and you will be happy.
