Would you still buy a Honda with VCM (cylinder deactivation) and or turbos, and CVTs?
Would you still buy a Toyota with a CVT, turbos, or cylinder deactivation?
I really just wanna know if those systems in these brands are any good, I know it’s annoying question but thank you.
No.
Toyota makes the best cvt out there and then Honda. When it comes to turbocharged engine's definitely Honda over any other brand and then I'd say Toyota. It's true that regular automatic or naturally aspired engines are the best for longevity, but a good cvt isn't bad. If you want one of these go for it. With cvt change the transmission fluid every 30k miles and if turbo use the gf6 motor oil Scotty has said to use and you'll be fine.
VCM: No. Dealbreaker. Unless I can easily turn it off.
Turbo/Super: Maybe.
CVT: Maybe, only a Toyota or Honda CVT.
Injection: Dual or Port most defiantly. Direct only, maybe but skeptical.
Timing: Belt, maybe, but prefer not. Chain, most likely yea.
