Hello,
I am from Fairfield, CT and own a 2004 Lexus LS430 with 190,000 miles (3rd owner). I just brought the vehicle to a Toyota service center to diagnose oil leaks and they said the following items were in need of repair: both lower/upper oil pans need to be resealed, rack and pinion leaking badly, rear differential leak. I am being quoted in excess of 6k to perform all the repairs as they state it is a big repair effort that needs to be done at once as they will need to drop the sub-frame. Can someone please advise if the diagnosis and cost is somewhat accurate, or if there is a recommendation for an auto shop that in Fairfield or New Haven CT that can do the repairs instead for less. Thank you!
The last thing in the world you need to do for a 20-year-old car is paying inflated dealer service prices. You need to find a good independent mechanic.
There are some mechanic referrals in the FAQ, but unfortunately none in Connecticut.
