- Hey scotty, ive got a 2007 Ford Mustang GT with the TR3650 5 speed manual with 130,271 miles. When going from 1st to 2nd gear (especially before its warmed up) its slightly difficult to get into 2nd without some delay before it goes in fully. Im not sure if it’s the synchro or something else but theres no slip, no clutch drag, and only happens from 1st to 2nd. Less than 1000 miles ago i changed the transmission fluid to full synthetic but ive heard that it’s not great for the synchros and blocker rings, but if it was I feel like I would experience difficulty in every gear but its only when going from 1st to 2nd

That is almost always the synchro going out for second gear which is the first synchro that normally wears out in those. Try to baby it more going into second because rebuilding is not cheap

Many thanks!
