I have a 1999 sliverado ex cab 2 wheel drive. I have keep maintaince up good . run all amsoil in truck suggested by a desieal mechanic. I have 281000 miles on it now. would i be worth it to put a good rebuilt engine and transmission in it or not. Or should put money in another truck instead. Thanks and love your honesty in your presatations. Have a wonderful day . George Hanan. fort worth texas

I would go with another truck since you likely do not know who rebuilds the engine and transmission and how they did that. Also, it is a 22 years old truck, and the plastic and rubber stuff could crack and need to be changed soon.

That’s a tough call George, like the gentleman above mentioned it’s 22 years old and you should have some valid concerns re the frame, rust, and rubber seals, etc.

Put the money into a new truck

I would look for a good used truck before buying a new one.

ill give you the other side if the rebuilder has a good rep and stands by his work one or two years and if your body and frame are rust free, you didnt mention if its auto or Manuel if its stick stick with it till its dead swap the engine save for the vacuum lines and any body mounts you may need  but if your paying a shop to do all this work you may just get something fresher just do your research ask around for any problems whatever your looking may have have someone preform a pre purchase

good luck my friend hopethis helps ya
