Hi everybody I have a 08 Mitsubishi Lancer with the 2.0L naturally aspirated and I noticed if I drive 8 miles or so the car goes from half a tank of gas to close to a quarter of a tank. I did replace the Maf sensor with a Walker Productions sensor (part number- 2451157) and if I drive the car up a hill on a cold engine codes pop up related to the maf sensor and reducing engine torque and making the engine run really rough. Sometimes as well short term fuel trim could be as high of +10% for a minute or two idling after a quick drive. Any suggestions?
A few suggestions:
1. Clean the MAF again
2. Clean your throttle body
3. Check your air and fuel filters
4. If you've never done it, run a bottle of fuel injector cleaner through the tank
You may find those simple steps solve your problem. But if not, let us know so we can offer more suggestions.
So I tried cleaning the maf sensor and I put fuel injection cleaner and filled the tank. I already know that the filters are clean and new and the throttle body is clean too because I recently rebuilt the engine. But nothing changed I’m still getting codes P1241 and P0172 and short term fuel trim as well as long term data is all funky. I’m really thinking of replacing this aftermarket cheap sensor with a better one.
