hi sir, I follow your page and YouTube channel and learned a lot from it... I'm a new driver and looking to buy my first car. Since I don't have the luxury to buy a new one I'm looking for a second hand car specifically an SUV. I'm currently looking at the 2013 FORD EDGE SPORT with 160,000 KM on it. please can you help me with some advice about this vehicle? I barely know much about cars and I use your videos to pick up some good stuff to consider. Any inputs would mean a lot to me. thank you so much!

Well the edges are okay not great but not bad. I personally would buy a equivalent Toyota myself. But with that smile amount of miles pick it still last another 70 80,000 miles it's normally before the engine or transmission has failure.Ultimately it depends on the price just don't pay too much

thank you so much for the reply.. price is around $10,000. do you think its worth it? and again thank you!

160,000 km is ~99,000 miles.  I void avoid that particular vehicle trim (Sport).  It has the 3.7L V6 which has the water pump driven by a timing chain.  To replace it the motor has to be taken apart which will be very expensive, but the real problem is if the water pump leaks it can potentially take out the whole engine, really just a poor design by Ford.  See here at 10:30 (that is the 3.5L V6 but the 3.7L V6 in the Sport trim has the same issue):

OMG! Thank you so much for this! this is an eye opener for me. I think I need to reconsider checking out other car models. What can you say about the KIA brand? I was also looking at the Sportage model. around 2013 to 2015.

Hyundai/Kia quality is not good, esp. beyond 100,000 miles. I would stay away from them unless you own it ONLY under lease/warranty. I strongly recommend a Toyota or Honda for the least issues, assuming your budget allows.

Thank you.. I'm looking now at the 2013 honda crv with 52K miles on it and asking for $9k.. I think ill go with this, sorry but I find toyota design a little boring in terms of design. {black}:scared: But I always hear that this car brand is really tough to destroy. This forum really helps a lot! and I'm really glad i got here. Thank you sir!

For list of model years Toyota/Honda to avoid (or at least be aware of the issues even if you get that year) see here:

@newguy you should post that as a separate question to get a complete set of answers.

Please don't buy it, Day Walker put a good video and you can clearly see the engine design will eat your wallet.
