My shifter is stuck in Park

A couple days ago my shifter got stuck in park and it wouldn’t let me slide into Reverse, Neutral or drive. After a while of messing with it, it worked. I’ve read that it could be due to my brake lights not working, but I’ve checked and they all work, car starts and runs just fine. Sometimes it would get stuck, and sometimes it would. Now its been almost 2 weeks and its always stuck, I have to use the override button to get it to move. What could it be?? Could it maybe be a fuse? I have a 2016 Nissan Altima with 55,000 miles

check the brake switch

Most likely cause is the stop lamp switch but I’ve also seen the shift lock solenoid on the shifter itself go bad

But if it was to be the stop lamp switch? wouldn’t the brake lights not work? The brake lights work fine, that’s why I have a feeling it might be the solenoid

There is a good chance it’s the solenoid but it’s not certain you could try and kick the brake pedal hard and see if it comes out of park.. sometimes that’ll make it work temporarily
