Hello scotty love your videos. Need your help. My stepfather wants to buy a used ram 1500. I tell him to get a f-150 or tundra, but it’s his money. What year or models should he stay way from? Thanks.

If you are going to buy a used 1/2 ton ram I would look at 2008/09. As with all Rams during the early 2000s you have to baby the automatic transmissions. Fluid changes are on time and never overwork it.

I would avoid the 2003 to 2006 Ram Hemis. They had some trouble with exhaust bolts breaking, among other things.

Can't really say there is a great model of Dodge Ram. The new ones have their problems and even going back to the 90's, defective radiators and electrical issues were fairly common. I would probably still recommend a pre-Fiat era Ram as compared to the current stuff.

@mod_man thank you for the info. I tell him not to even go there because he had an 02 ram and that didn’t last lol. I will try to find something better.
