Hello my car is still long cranking and has used 350km per 70 liter tank. all fluids new and clean, air filter clean, new spark plugs, throttle cleaned, using shell/esso gas only.
Went to a mechanic was quoted 600$ cad for new fuel pump and valve with it. So about $470 USD for oem parts and labour.
Would you know anywhere where I could buy fuel pump assembly cheaper? and what brand does honda use? denso?
Thanks for the help
Did the shop that quoted you $600 actual do some testing to come to the conclusion that your pump is defective ? Did you counter by asking if the new pump is installed and the car exhibits the same behavior as is now...what then ?
yea he did test and determined it was it
mechanics buy parts at wholesale rate, so you may not find it cheaper. Ask him if he quoted you for an OEM pump and what brand it is. Pumps can be a pretty big job.
Try calling part dealers in your area. NAPA usually has decent prices. They will know OEM brand.
Did you test fuel pressure to make sure the pump is your problem?
Rockauto or ebay. Don't get the cheapest one they have. Name brand preferably.
Rock Auto .com has pretty cheap parts. Or you can find a used one on ebay or off a parts car on facebook marketplace or craigslist. A salvage yard could have one too. The obvious risk of a used one is that it could have the same issue if it is common or it could be close to breaking since it is old and used. Also some mechanics won't even install used or aftermarket parts but your mileage may vary.
