Hi I am purchasing my first car as a daily driver (~50miles/day) and after researching I decided that toyota corolla would be the best choice for me. I have been looking at vehicles for awhile and came up with these 3 choices which seemed to make the most sense. There will be a thorough pre-purchase inspection by a mechanic. Given that all 3 vehicles are in good condition, which vehicle would you suggest buying? If it's too expensive, how much should I ask for?
1. 2010 Toyota Corolla S, automatic, 102kmiles, $7500 (dealer)
2. 2010 Toyota Corolla LE, automatic, 128kmiles, $8500 (dealer)
3. 2010 Toyota Corolla LE, automatic, 127kmiles, $8000 (private party)
My first choice if they are all given the "OK" by your mechanic would be the S model. It has 25/26 thousand less miles and costs $500/$1000 less money than the two LE's.
The LE may have more interior "luxury" but they all have the same 1.8 cylinder motor and 4 speed transmission, and the same suspension. With the S you get 16 inch steel wheels instead of the 15 inch on the LE, leather wrapped steering wheel, underbody spoilers, fog lights, sport seats and an extra pair of stereo speakers.
It is the XRS model that upgrades to the 2.4 liter engine, 17 inch alloy wheels, sport-tuned suspension and steering and a standard 5 speed manual or optional 5 speed automatic trans. FYI
Otherwise I would select the one that has been maintained the best!
Ooops. I meant to say 1.8 liter engine, not 1.8 cylinder engine (that would not be good). 😉
Get it checked and inspected with mechanic first
If possible get S
Le is for luxury and smooth ride
S is for sports
