I recently heard certain Honda Odysseys had tranny problems. I had an 03 tranny quit on me all of a sudden while innocently driving to work. It had less than 170,000 miles. I never serviced the tranny since I bought it used. I also have an 02 Honda Odyssey I bought used that now has 170,000 miles! (Cue Jaws music.) I did have the tranny serviced at 150,000. The tranny still seems strong, but so did the 03 before it left me hanging. Was the 02 tranny better than the 03, or am I in for another unpleasant surprise soon? Thanks Scotty and the gang!
I had a 2002 Odyssey that made it to 325,000 miles before the transmission started to slip. And I wasn't servicing it either. YMMV 🙂
I believe the 2002 and 2003 Honda Odysseys used the same 5 speed automatic transmission. Hopefully the servicing you did on that 2002 Odyssey will make transmission last longer!
Thank you, AD99. I hope so, too. But let's just say it's staying in the garage during out of town trips. Enterprise here we come!
Starship Enterprise?
lol!
Unfortunately, the Honda Odyssey has had the transmission issue for a while and still has that issue. Baby that transmission to get the most out of it. By the way, have you ever considered a Toyota Sienna?
We are retired empty nesters so we don't need a mini-van any longer. When the Odyssey dies, we're thinking about a Toyota Corolla hatchback, perhaps. Thank you, yaser!
