Hello:
I have a new Lexus GX460, is it going to hurt the car if I drive it a long distance in one day (10 hours road trip)?Currently car has 30 miles on the clock. I have other cars but I really want to take this one.
Thanks
You can, but don’t drive it at a constant speed, drive hard or brake hard regularly, for the entire trip.
A new car likes to be driven at various speeds, shift through all its different gears and generally let everything bed in properly, before you start exploring the limits of the machine.
Your owner’s manual may have specific instructions on the run in period for your specific vehicle, but as a rough guide, don’t drive pedal to the metal for the first 1000 miles.
Congratulations & enjoy your new acquisition!
Do everything @InThrustWeTrust said and you'll be just fine.
A good road trip can actually be the best way to break in a new car. Have fun and be safe!
cars looooooooooove driving
Some owners manuals recommend NOT going over a certain RPM as well. Heck some cars will automatically limit your RPM, the first 500-1000 miles.
