Hi Scotty, looking at new 2024 Honda Civic..... what do you think about the Hybrid models as compared to the non hybrid turbo? I’m a little nervous about buying a Hybrid, but also not happy about lower life of a turbo
If you want more projected reliability for a hybrid, get a Prius or Corolla hybrid.
If you are willing to take a chance, get the Civic hybrid.
The reason being is because the Prius/Corolla technology has been around forever. And the latest version is basically a carry over from the previous generation. It has a strong track record.
While Honda is known for their quality, this is a totally new hybrid system for them, so there is no track record on this type of system. Granted, it seems like a decent system. I actually think it is a clever design, because it is basically an EV under 45mph. And uses the gas engine to drive the car above 45mph.
As for the turbo, if you do longer road trips or more freeway driving, get the turbo. The turbo civic is prone to oil dilution if it is only driven for short distances where the car can’t warm up fully. But if you do mostly city, you might be better over with the hybrid.
Personally, I'd be nervous about both of them. I'm not a hybrid fan and I'm not a turbo fan either. I would actually get a Toyota that was non-turbo.
