New ignition key switch won't let me remove the key

I purchased a 2013 Hyundai Elantra GLS automatic at an auction that was previously stolen. The ignition key switch was destroyed as well as the housing cracked to prevent a new ignition key switch from locking in place.

I purchased a key switch from Autozone and I ordered a new ignition switch housing from parts geek. The ignition key switch slides in while aligned to the ACC. It will click and lock in. It will turn the car on and start the car. The issue is the key will not go into Lock and allow me to remove the key.

What is the solution?

It sounds like the Key Solenoid is staying energized.

When the transmission is Put into Park, the Park (P) Position Switch in the Center Console is closed and the BCM receives the Ground signal (through the Green/black striped wire) and de-energizes the Key Solenoid.

So is this a mechanical problem with the lock assembly or a circuit problem?

Maybe try removing the 7.5 amp Module 1 fuse in the Instrument Panel Fuse Box and see if you can turn the Key to Lock and remove the key.

The solution is to buy parts from a higher quality seller. You got a crappy lock assembly. You might try spraying it with WD-40. Maybe it'll loosen up but really you got a cheap part
