They're a disaster compared to the original compact truck. They have the notoriously bad GM-Ford 10-speed automatic transmission. The transmissions have had at least three recalls now, and they're still messed up.

My wife and I have 2017 Mustangs and their check engine lights are always coming on because of EVAP problems. Bronco Sports and Escapes were recalled because of faulty fuel injectors, and rather than replacing injectors, Ford cheaped out and installed a fuel leak detection system instead. Ford quality control is bottom of the barrel these days. I would stay away from any relatively recent Ford product. 

Not all that much. They used to be pretty good but if you look at their sales compared to Toyota tacomas Toyota is absolutely slaughtering them. Ford quality's been going downhill for so long I wouldn't buy a late model
