I have a 2012 automatic Nissan Maxima. I was told you can’t start the engine with a key, fob only. I lost 1 fob and couldn’t start my car, needed a tow. Was also told I can only get it programmed at a dealership. First, I googled and I can’t find a way to start my car without the fob even tho I have a key (only for opening the door apparently), 2nd can I only get the fob programmed at a dealership? #nissankeyfob

try a locksmith
I feel like they almost be more expensive than a dealership no?
call and find out. Unless you have a better idea.
I have a Maxima, lost my key, got a new key and programmed by local locksmith...280.00$
