Would a Volvo S40 be a good replacement?

Hey Scotty, I'm planning on getting rid of my 2005 Nissan Maxima since it's been giving me problems while after spending at least four thousand on repairs on valve covers, starter, cam and crank sensors, throttle body, power steering pump, etc. and the fact that one out of three of the catalytic converters is completely worn out so that's the reason that's making me want to sell it soon.

After getting the Maxima sold whenever soon, I've been looking at the second generation (2005-10) Volvo S40 with the non-turbo 2.4L (B5244S4) five-cylinder pushing 168 horsepower w/ 170 pound feet of torque connected to the Aisin AF33 5 speed automatic that's also used in my Maxima.

I've heard about some common problems with the Volvo S40 like......

CV Axles going out

Fuel rail pressure sensor failure

Motor mounts wearing out

Weak brake calipers

Other than that, I wouldn't be surprised if there would be other problems that would go on but it seems that it won't be a maintenance hog like my Maxima would be if it was taken care of probably. But would you think this Volvo S40 non-turbo would be a good option or should I shy away from it and look for something better?

Be prepared to open up your pocketbook when stuff breaks. Volvo is a luxury car.

CV Axles going out

This is normal wear and tear.

Motor mounts wearing out

Also wear and tear. Motor mounts are made of rubber, which eventually dry rots.

Given that the newest potential vehicle is 15 years old, if you're on a budget, I wouldn't recommend it.
