That's a seriously old car. It could have any number of problems. If you want a project go ahead if it runs and drives but for anything else, I'd pass.

my option currently is to either work on Datsun Cedric 220c running on TD27 engine or the Silvia running on SR20DET

I would say yes if you would keep it as a weekend toy and don't mind the cost to keep it going.
Definitely no for a daily drivers.
Here in New Zealand they are popular amongst boy racers and most of them are abused
before being sold.
