Hey Scotty my Nissan Xterra keeps on shaking and vibrating when I’m driving it what is happening what should I do
It may be misfiring from what you describe. Can you scan for any trouble codes & post them here?
Also, you haven’t mentioned the year & mileage of the vehicle.
When was the last time you changed your spark plugs & coils? Basically a service/tune up?
When it starts to shake, does stepping on the gas and raising the RPM, smoothen out/reduce the shaking/vibration?
Well can you tell me at what speed it does? And does the steering wheel shake or the whole chassis
when i start it up it starts to shake around when i haven't driven it in like lets say 2 days or a week but if i start it one day and go to start the car the next day it dosen't shake around i think it might be the engine shaking around and the check engine light flashes rapidly when it shakes around. its the engine the steering wheel dosen't shake
You got a misfire. Go to the nearest autoparts store, get the code reader and they'll tell you which cylinder is it on. Then take out the misfiring ignition coil and swap it with one of the other cylinders, check the codes again. If it's misfiring in the same cylinder as it was doing it before, hopefully it's your spark plug needs to be replaced, otherwise get a new ignition coil. It's $80 at autozone
