Hello everyone, I wish I could add the video I took. Anyways, I have a 2005 Acura Mdx with 194K miles, when starting up the SUV I hear whining noise. Once the car is warmed up it goes away, but I stayed parked and I turned my steering wheel Slightly to the left and to the right, I start to hear nosie again. I plan on flushing the power steering fluid once it comes in the mail. But if it's not that I do I test the power steering pump to rule that out?
Just upload your video to YouTube and paste the link here.
Sounds like possible air in the system. Fluid up to level? Any hoses leaking, possibly ingesting air? Although almost 200k miles could mean pump is starting to go. I would do a basic inspection/flush then monitor the noise. When the pump really goes bad it will make noise ALLLLLLLLLLLLll the time.
