My wiper blades are "newish" but they are driving me NUTS. How do I stop the noise without turning the wipers off? {black}:laughingoutloud:
YES, I was watching when he answered. Very cool Thanks: Dave 🙂
Use this spray on your windshield:
Clean the windshield really well. Make you scrub or scrape any hardened crud or film, and then buff it really well. And clean the wiper blades too. Soak a rag in windshield washer fluid and go to town. Make sure the rubber is still supple and flexible. If it's stiff and dry then replace them. Same goes for the frame if it's not flexing like it should.
Also, if you have cracks in the windshield, I find that it shreds wipers and they don't last very long.
sprays don't last very long unfortunately and you have to keep applying them.
And use silicon wiper blade.
I'm not sure if these wipers (OEM) are silicone or not? Also I forgot to mention, I always use "Rain X" washer fluid.
I was originally thinking to wipe the windshield with Isopropyl alcohol then maybe some sort of wax coating?
Good idea.
regularly sanitizing and waxing the windshield for the rest of my life just sounds like a major pain 😆
It is for cleaning not sanitizing.
Clean you windows. It will help a lot. Make sure there is nothing on the windshield.
Some are louder than others... I find PIA to be quietest but model/design varies too per vehicle application.
Perhaps your windshield needs a proper claybar cleaning to get all that built-up dirt and grime off. And make sure the blades are in good condition. Using the wiper blades when the windshield is not wet will actually ruin the blades too.
I've ALWAYS used Bosch Icon wiper blades for as long as I can remember. One trick I do is use NuFinish car polish on the glass, plus keeping Orange RainX in the washer reservoir.
I can't remember the last time the wipers made ANY noise! Of course I change them twice a year too...beginning of Summer & Winter.
