Hey everyone, recently my refrigerator started leaking I called a technician he told me there wasn't anything he could do that would guarantee the refrigerator working again so my question is what is the best refrigerator manufacturer?

Frigidaire was a good brand back in the day. They're still decent now. The company was actually owned by GM at one point. The main plant was in Moraine, Ohio, around 15 minutes from where I live. GM ended refrigerator production there in the late 80s or early 90s when they sold the division and built Chevy Blazers and Trailblazers there, among other SUVs. It was renamed GM Moraine Assembly. GM targeted that plant for closure during their meltdown and closed it in 2008. The union in the plant wasn't UAW, it was some electrician's union and they didn't risk angering their UAW employees with their decision.

Thanks!

Quite a few car companies were also appliance manufacturers decades ago. Crosley of course pioneered shelves in refrigerator doors and also built the Crosley automobile. GM had Frigidaire, Nash/AMC had Kelvinator, Ford had Philco. Chrysler didn't make kitchen appliances but did sell Airtemp air conditioning. (I had a Chrysler Airtemp window air conditioner like 50 years ago.)

Back then appliances lasted a very long time. You'll be lucky to get 10 years out of what's being sold today and many start having problems well before then.

Hey, you must live near Dayton. I've visited the Carillon Historic Park a couple of times which has an entire section about the Moraine plant. Besides the aviation, there is some deep automotive industrial roots in your town. It's a great little museum if you haven't had a chance to see it.

Old refrigerators hold up much better than new ones. I generally favor Kelvinator and Crosley but most of the leading brands decades ago would run pretty much forever.

We don't build things like we used to.

Check where they are made.

I bought a Kohler mover years ago because i trusted the Kohler name. Long time American brand. Right?

Nope!

Engine made in China!

Ya can't trust anybody any more.

Be careful and good luck.
