Is NV3500 manual transmission from a 1998 Dodge 1500 DIY rebuild able by an average shade tree mechanic?

not really if you've ever split the cases on a manual transmission you will be amazed at the sprockets and gears that are inside there

Thank you Scotty for your input. That explains why it's 1500 bucks as a carry in to the transmission shop.
