Obviously, you have to use OEM parts so that a vehicle can run. However, where can I find them and how expensive are they?
You really don’t have to use only OEM parts.
Here are a few examples:
- On my Renault Meganè 1st generation, the OEM parts would constant fail while even the cheapest Chinese parts would last 5-6 times more.
- Another example would be on the DS3, one of my favorite cars, when we are repairing the transmission we always replace the OEM (Acutex) solinoids with Borg-Warner and they last ~4 times more.
- or the damper retainers on Ford, Chrysler and Volvo dual clutch transmissions. The OEM ones fall apart from age and become brittle.
- And I remember Nissan used to sell cam sensors that don’t fit correctly for their trucks…
So it’s not like you always should blindly get OEM parts.
look for auto parts stores in your area, they usually sell them for cheaper then the car dealer usually would.
usually OEM parts are 30% precent more expensive then NOT OEM but in some cases the opposite is true…
Edit: I usually find the info on the part and buy the best one from the best company. For example instead of Mazda belts on my Volvo I use ContiTech. Or instead of Bosch spark plugs that just didn’t last, I use Denso. And same with my belt pussy that I got from Dayco instead of the oem that are known for failing on that engine.
just check that the not OEM Manufacturer lists that it’s a compatible part
Meant to write PULLY. Excuse my phones autocorrect.

Your local part stores, or online. Have you tried searching? You'll find out how expensive. And you don't HAVE to use OEM parts for everything.
You definitely don't have to use OEM parts. Online retailers like Rockauto stock a huge supply of parts compatible with most vehicles. I'd look there.....see what you can find.
