Hi Scotty. I've been told various stories. Are OEM tires on new vehicles different than the same tires you buy as replacement? I've been told various stories by various people including dealer service centers that say my road noise ifs because the OEM tires are just good enough to get me off the lot and are crappy tires. Its a 2024 Mazda. Anyway I dont understand why the tire manufacturer would want to do this to their brand. Anyway, looking forward to a credible answer THANK YOU
As far as I know as I've ever known, OEM tires are good tires. They're not excellent, but they're generally good. My 2017 Mustang has Hankook Venus tires, I bought new tires of the same kind after the originals wore out. They're the same tire, regardless of if you bought them yourself or they came from the factory. My Hankooks cost almost $1000, they were on sale for $800 if I bought 4. They're not as good as Perelli, but they're definitely not bad.

Take a look at who you're talking to -dealer service centers. Service centers will upcharge you wherever possible to meet the dealership's high overhead costs. Ripping people off is like their forte. They don't call them "stealerships" without reason. I have Hankook white-wall tires on my 1979 Pontiac because I was impressed with how they handled on my Mustang.

Ford, or whoever the automobile manufacturer is, has a contract with the tire company. Choosing a manufacturer to supply OEM tires isn't for just any ol' tire company. Any tire manufacturer has to have a good track record with making tires -the contact patch is the only part of the tire that touches the ground at any instant, and the car's handling is riding on it.
