Hi Scotty i have a 2009 crv that had the oil changed with full synthetic oil on december of 2019 , it has only been driven for 1500 miles , the computer says the oil life is at 80% and it looks very clean. Do you suggest to replace now or wait until the computet says its time?
The general rule is you change it out every 5k miles or 1 year, whichever comes first.
It is always better to error on the side of caution as, just like you said, engines are expensive and oil is cheap.
It is a lot like gambling on whether or not to eat some iffy seafood: sure it smells ok, but you just know if things do go sideways its gonna get ugly quick.
Its clean and you used full synthetic. 1500 miles is nothing. The computer is right, according to it you should be fine changing it every 7000 miles. But to be safe I would do it every 5. Are you doing city or highway? If you are doing highway, 6 7k should be fine. In the city, do every 5.
It’s Jan 2021 today. More than 12 months?
I know.. it was changed in the middle of december of 2019.. it was only driven 1500 miles.. full synthetic..

Oh my bad you know I am still in the mentality of 2020 you are correct in that case I would do the oil change sooner rather than later.
So it looks clean, and you don't have any residue on the oil cap or dipstick?
No residues.. looks clean... i guess im going to change it just to be on the safe side.. oil is cheap.. engines are not
