Hi Scotty or who ever. Am original owner and moderate driver. Have enjoyed MR2 lot of fun and reliable. Maintained as meticulously as possible at a private garage with ex Toyota repairmen. Unfortunately owner of shop died in Aug 2020, with Coven(?). Shop prior  replaced turbo with a JDM unit from Sacramento CA. Had around 60 k miles on scrapped car. Original turbo leaked oil around fittings, now resolved. Compression is 150 psi on all four plugs looked good. But have been having oil consumption gradually. Use Castrol 10-40 syntec. No smoke upon start up. Had previous replaced valve seals. Oil consumption is 200 - 400 miles per quart. Gasoline consumption 17 mpg (city) and 26 (highway). Actually there are only two independent non dealer shops who specialize in Asian autos. Had two hose failures several yrs ago that blew necessitated careful driving. The "hoses from hell," as there known. Block was "checked" an did not appear damaged(?). I change oil every 3-4 months with Toyota oil filters. Talked with a neighbor (x auto repairman) suggested a ring/valve job. Would appreciate your views. For a 30 yr old car, it runs quite well, save oil consumption. Very attractive when cleaned and polished. Thank you and good luck!

Had an 87 (I think) MR2, it was a hoot!  Luv that short throw shifter!  Nice job taking care of that car too!  Anyway, that is huge oil consumption for that 4 cylinder.  And at 150 psi on compression, your care and few miles, I don't think it's rings.  Here's what I suspect, pull the turbo and check for oil in intake plenum.  I suspect that will answer the question.  Did ya happen to get an oil pressure to share?
