Hey Scotti
Love the videos. Who does your hair. Do you have a makeup artist work on you before making your videos? Where do you get those glasses? All that stuff make the videos great.
I have a 2021 Kia Sorento. OK now that your finished laughing here is my question. I do my own oil changes and I was wondering about fomoto valves to replace the drain plug. What do you think.
If its bad don't tell my wife. {black}
Looks like a great way to lose all your engine oil from debris on the highway

These things also allow juvenile delinquents to drain your oil without your knowing it, starting your car and ruining your engine, unless they're armed with a 17mm box wrench. I would never use one of these, no matter how convenient they say they are. What are you foing to do when it breaks, go looking for your old drain plug?
There is a safety clip that snaps onto the valve handle and the handle has to be pushed beyond a step in the casting to open. Both my cars have those annoying bottom covers that shield road debris. I found Scotty did a video on drain valves a couple of years back but that was a different type.Put them on both my cars. If you look at my earlier posts you will see why I don't trust dealers. My Sorento is at the dealer on a recall. Seems a cold solder joint in the gas pedal can cause an uncontrollable acceleration event and presents what is called a minor crash hazard. Besides they are made in Japan just like Toyota's.
I have a Fumoto valve on my 2018 WRX, and put one on my daughter's Crosstrek. Makes it possible to change the oil with no tools (anything that makes it easier to keep up with routine maintenance is a good thing). I believe they're made in Japan and build quality is great.
3 caveats:
1) Make sure it doesn't hang down too low. If you drive on a lot of rough roads (or off-road) I would get the short- (or no-) nipple version.
2) The Fumoto valve is a major time saver, but don't get in a hurry. Make sure it is completely closed, that the safety clip is properly installed, and double check it. It will drain your oil in no time if you leave the spigot loose.
3) Might want to avoid buying on Amazon. These days, there are too many counterfeit auto parts there and this is not the kind of part where a cheap knock-off would be OK. Use a more reputable seller.
