Oil leak?

Well, I visited the Sequoia and the main thing I noticed was that there seemed to be a lot of wet areas underneath the car toward the front.  I squeezed under and took some photos.  Does this look like an obviously bad situation or should I move forward and pay a mechanic to do pre purchase inspection?  Thanks again!

Looks like a bad situation to me. It's a heavy leak.

I can't tell from the photos where it's coming from, but that could be $$$$$ to fix.

Thank you for your help!

Well, … from these pictures, good news is that all those oil-soaked surfaces will never rust! Bad news is that, … those oil-soaked surfaces indicate that, … there is a severe oil leak - and perhaps some other stuff leaking, too: coolant, power steering fluid - up front, and it will have to be thoroughly investigated, … and not just at looking at the pictures.

Anyway, … I think, if you are still interested in that vehicle, just splurge on an independent mechanic to check this vehicle out and advise you on its condition, repairs needed, an estimate how much it all might cost, … assuming it is all fixable. Or worth fixing, …

… another quick point: … if the current owner tolerated this severe oil leak for so long - and pictures indicate that this leak did not just happened, what else has he/she been ignoring?

Excellent point and good advice that I'll be sure to consider going forward in my car search. Thanks a lot!
