New 2020 rav 4 adventure. 6500km driven 1year need an oil change. The car takes 0w16 or 0w20. But i Can't find that oil here in Africa. So my question is should i wait and try to get that oil imported, or can i use 5w20?
( last time i checked i believe engine oil can't be checked in the airplane, so i can't ask a friend to bring me a some from abroad, it will hv to be ups or something like that 🙄)Â

Do not use 5w20. Get the oil you need on Amazon, Rock Auto, etc.
If you've bought it from a Toyota dealership in the area you are then shouldn't they have the oil available too? Yes dealerships will definitely charge more but if you can't find the right oil anywhere else buy it from the dealership parts department for now. Or if as Doc said you can find it on Amazon.
Sorry i forgot to mention. The car was imported from japan. When i got it our dealership didn't hv that model yet even now they don't hv it.. The dealership (in africa) told me that 0W was for cold temp start and since we don't hv winter in Africa 5w20 will work as well.
So you imported it yourself and did not buy it from a dealership, right? Because cars can be made somewhere else but it comes through the dealership like Japan made 4Runners you buy at dealership in the USA. But aside from this no don't listen to the dealership for the oil to use; use what your owners manual tells you to use.
