I am inheriting a 2011 Jeep Patriot with about 25,000 miles, and it has the 4 cylinder automatic, it has been setting in the garage for 2 1/2 years, can I change or charge the battery and fire it up, or is there more needed to address the fact that the gas is so old, and probably about $3 a gallon cheaper! Very much enjoy your Videos I have learned so much, please advise.

Siphon out all the old gas you can and put in fresh.  If you try to start it now, it will probably foul up your fuel pump and fuel system in general.  Put in a new fuel filter too.  I would also change the oil and filter.

Don't start it with old gas, you can mess up a lot of things starting an engine with old gas. @Doc has good recommendations.

Save the old gas for your lawn mower or weed eater and fill the tank with Shell best grade gas. A can of Berryman B-12 wouldn't hurt either.
