Hey Scotty, I have a 2000 Ford Crown Vic Police Interceptor with 254000 miles. There are times when going down the road, I loose power, like the car has kicked into limpin mode. The rpms can be heard raise up. The temp warning light on the dash will light up when this happens. If I take my foot off the accelerator, the rpms drop down, and the warning light turns off. The temp gauge will either be still in the cold range if it hasn't been running long, or in the middle of the normal range on the guage. The radiator has had a recent flush at the shop along with the thermostat replaced. Could this be from air in the system? There have been other videos talking about burping the system, does it make a difference if the cap is removed from the reservoir?
I would burp the system with the cap off. Air naturally wants to escape upwards, so by removing the cap you are giving it a way out of the system naturally.
