2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse Grand Sports 144000 miles, manual, and OBDII code P0340.
i was driving home on the highway leaving a auto shop to get my car looked at for running hot, when I was told they do not do engine work, and overheated.
I’ve replaced the head gaskets and now I’m receiving a P0340 *Camshaft position sensor circuit error* code after replacing the Cam/Crankshaft position sensor. What should I do next before talking to a mechanic about repairs and getting the run around and ripped off?
Well if you did the head gasket odds are it wasn't put together right? Cuz if you're getting that code it usually means the timing is not set up correctly and it was not put together right? The computer trips that sensor code because the data is weird if the engine was not put together. Of course check to see if any wires or anything were damaged, but if everything is normal, odds are the timing is off at least a tooth or two
Thanks Kilmer you’re a legend, that makes perfect sense I did recall the crankshaft looking off set but I didn’t think too much of it. I’ll retime the belt and let you know how everything went!
