Should I buy a Mitsubishi Eclipse/Spyder

Would like to know your professional opinion on the Mitsubishi Eclipse, in the 120-200k miles range, post 2000.  Didn't see any videos on it.  Probably will buy privately.  I see many are convertibles--is that a problem waiting to happen? (I live in NE).

Also, has your opinion of the Pontiac Solstice changed?

A convertible will always require more attention than a non-convertible, especially on an older car. I've owned several over the years.. Jaguar, Triumph, Mercedes, Celica, Solara. But I wouldn't choose a convertible as a daily driver because they do require a little more attention.

would prefer a manual for these.  Thinking around $4k

Absolutely a manual transmission - It's a convertible sports car!

I have owned one years ago, convertible 5 speed they are known for bad head gaskets and overheating.  Trust me you don't wont a convertible they are high maintenance and leak all over the place,  at window seals at rear window at front mounts and in cold wet weather they are not practical and you want own it for to long...

Automatic or manual? How much are you willing to spend on it?
