Gears Do Not Engage

My girlfriend has a 2000 eclipse that was bought as a project car the engine starts however there is a problem with power getting to the wheels. You can have the parking brake on and go through all the gears with no clutch and get no grinding or movement and no wheelspin even when it is off the ground. I was thinking it could be the dif or clutch but am new to vehicles and I’m not sure. Anything at all is helpful

It certainly sounds like you have no clutch - at all. I don't think I've ever seen one so worn though that you can shift the transmission with the engine running and not pressing the clutch pedal. Maybe something stuck keeping the clutch disengaged? You may have more of a project on your hands than intended.

Another possibility is that the throwout bearing is locked on the trans input shaft in the disengage position on the pressure plate, preventing the clutch and pressure plate from engaging.  Another possibility is the clutch pivot arm is somehow jammed, also in the disengage position.  You're going to have to visually inspect the pivot arm where it exits the transmission housing to see if it's hung up.  If that's OK, the trans will have to be removed to find the problem.
