Well realize when you step on the brake it is supposed to send to power to the little electric motor that disengages the lock on the park. So I would assume you have a problem in that system create something simple like a short and the brake light switch only and not a wiring or Park motor failure

Okay, got it, thank you. Quick question: can that cause the airbag light to start flashing like a Christmas tree and also cause the AC to only blow air from the fan without cooling? Because it all started when I pressed the brake and it didn’t release. Then the airbag light started flashing, followed by the handbrake light (not engaged) and the message “check brake system.” Then everything turned off, and the AC started working normally (well, it used to). Now, if I try to turn on the AC while driving, I get all those lights. When I turn it off, the lights turn off. I only have the check engine light for EGR, which I need to change. I did put a piece of tape on the shifter lock so I wouldn’t have to force the shifter to move out of park. I don’t know if that can affect the AC. I do have an appointment next week; I just don't want to get ripped off by buying a new computer for the car or BCM. Thanks again.
