I have a 2012 Cruze with a 1.4l engine. So far I have put a new thermostat on it and checked all the hoses which were fine. When I run it the coolant temp reaches about 230 to 240 which seems way too high. The thermostat hose feels cold while the reservoir has boiling water and the fan only comes on for about 1 seconds before it cuts back off. Any ideas on what it could be. I had a guess of it being a coolant temp sensor but it was reading the temp just not opening the thermostat and not turning the cooling fan on.
The thermostat hose feels cold
I'm not sure what a thermostat hose is. You mean the big fat radiator hose?
It definitely should not be cold. So either you have a blocked radiator, try running your garden hose through it.
or the thermostat is not opening (try dropping it in boiling water).
Yeah. I mean the radiator hose. Sorry I forgot what it was called for a little while.
did they not cover overheating in your ASE course?
