Overheating. I noticed bottom radiator hose cold while upper hot. I changed the thermostat. Still overheated and just noticed upper radiator hose collapsed. Could the cap be the culprit even though I see no signs of wear, deterioration or damage? Springs seem to be working ok when I push. Rubber seals show no signs of damage or wear. I also just changed the water pump (Aisin)due to pulley bearing worn out (no overheating issue when this occurred but loud worn bearing sounds; like a diesel). Could the overheating be the cap?

Scotty does not usually answer a topic more than once.

You have not even indicated what kind of vehicle you're dealing with or its mileage. The scenario you are posing is extremely unlikely and if there were any debris you would have seen it when changing the water pump. A clog from lack of maintenance is far more likely.

Well, a cap won't make a hose collapse. Either. You have some type of restriction in the system where the pump is sucking and not flowing or you got a blown head gasket. Often. If a clogged radiator exists it will cause that the pump will suck but it doesn't flow so it collapses the hose
