Hi, I have a 98 tacoma 2.4 m/t and I am getting code p 0302 #2 cylinder. My spark plug is new, it runs rough for a few minutes then is ok. I turned the check engine light off and it ran rough again but the light has not come back on yet. What is the best way to check to see if it's not my ignition coil?
Switch the ignition coil on cylinder #2 with cylinder #1 and see if the misfire moves. If the misfire moves, then it is the ignition coil. If the misfire doesn't move, then it's something else. This is Scotty's little trick...

I believe on your vehicle the ignition coils are in pairs, so you need to switch the pair around WITH the wires if that makes sense, not just the wires connecting the spark plugs to coils itself. You'll have more problems if you just switch the wires around without switching the coils too.
