Hi there
i have a 2009 ford crown Victoria with 114,000 miles (automatic)
How can I tell if the problem is indeed the thermostat stuck open or failing? Could it be something else? Any advice will help!
thank you! From austin Texas
Yes, and if you choose to replace it, when you unscrew it you will lose a small amount of coolant so have a rag to mop it up and some coolant set aside to fill the system back up after you screw the new sensor back in.
Great, definitely want to replace it, would you recommend taking out the alternator to do this job? Thanks so much
Only two things it could be; stuck thermostat or bad temperature sensor. Temp. sensor #SU2188 - $30, Failsafe thermostat #7265-195 - $20 at AutoZone and everywhere else too. This a an easy fix job.
Thanks for the response and sorry about my late one
I replaced the thermostat and now I’m doing the sensor swap as well.
Could you tell me which sensor is the coolant one if you get a chance? Appreciate the help. Tried to find the thing but not feeling lucky
Front of the engine towards passenger side a large hose from the radiator to the thermostat housing. The sending unit is behind and kind of under the housing where you will see a plug in electrical connector.
I think I see it
Like inside the pocket between the alternator and the radiator hose?
Yes.
If you type "2009 Crown Victoria temperature sensor location" into a search engine and click on images, you should get a hundred pictures that will help you.
