2007 Dodge magnum 3.5L with 161K miles on it
where to start......
new injectors. down to the wiring harness. has to be. need to remove the engine/pcm harness and start testing connections and for broken wires. everything is working. just wont stop throwing P1005 tuning valve actuator, no more P1004 short runner valve actuator, and its getting hard starting. no code for that. some times it just fires. more then not now, it cranks and cranks, wont fire then after 5 to 10 seconds, it fires. used to be jut click the starter and it fired up.
Tuning valve actuator is new. TB is new. PCM replaced 3 times, short runner valve replaced. ALL with Mopar parts, not after market, intake was pulled, dipped and soaked for 4 days to clean out oil and other contaminates. MAP tests fine, but cleaned it anyways, its my main driver, but I dont drive daily, retired, being the PCM was removed 3 times, or more,
Im thinking maybe it could be a wire at the plug end. I did a ohms test, but. the tuning valve has 6 wires, I did find them all, but where the wires go to the PCM, one wire seems to be connected to several pins in the plug. which makes no sense to me. and I dont know if I can find another harness to the PCM. the one on the engine it self. valves to coupler all seem fine.
it started out with tossing O2 sensor codes (P0420/30). non stop, was not the sensors. replaced two anyways, still gave codes. then they stopped and the intake codes started up. they have not stopped.
live in north Alabama near Huntsville. please reach out to me. seriously at the end of my rope with this car. I do know how to work on them, been doing it for about 44 years
Thank you ahead of time!!!
pins dont match on the c2. or MTV connector.
can you post a photo of what you have? (how to post a photo )
pin 23 on c2 at the pcm is the MAP sensor
that's right. According to the diagram in the factory manual link I posted, the MTV signal should be on C1-23. The diagram is a bit blurry unfortunately
the pcm c2. is pin #16, reads 0.0002ohm.
Ignition on or off?
Resistance is measured between two points, so I don't know what you're measuring here. Is that resistance to ground? If so then it's shorted to ground. - Repair the (K136) MTV Control circuit for a short to ground.
pin 16 is for MTV control . Step 1 in the instructions I posted are to measure this control voltage on the MTV connector. Please post the voltage, and then follow the instructions from there ....
@imperator short runner i(P1004) s not the issue. it wont stop throwing the tuning (P1005) valve. there is nothing wrong with either valve, replaced PCM 3 times. cant be that. wires from valves to first main connector are fine. my eyes and right hand (im right handed) are not good enough anymore, to much arthritis in my hand to mess with the main pcm plug actually wanting to get a hold of Scotty if he is still in TN and take the car to him. straight drive up 65. 1.7 hour drive.
@chucktobias I have taken great care of the car. as a retired gear head, its in my blood. but at this point, with all the issues I have my self, some things I just cant do anymore. love this car. best driving car I have ever owned and its #57, drives and rides better then the girlfriends 06 Mercedes E350. but I cant just keep tossing wet noodles at the wall hoping one sticks.. thank you for the info on where to get an appointment !!!
short runner i(P1004) s not the issue
troubleshooting for DTC P1005 is in the same manual that I linked above.
there is nothing wrong with either valve, replaced PCM 3 times. cant be that
I never said it was. In spite of what you may believe, you need to follow the troubleshooting step by step to narrow down the cause. Trouble codes are never wrong. It could be wiring or anything. It's what you should have done BEFORE shotgunning parts at it. Let us know your results.
@imperator so one issue Im into now., Mitchells pro, Mopar, and Carmin online wiring, ALL show different schematics and so on. pins dont match on the c2. or MTV connector. looked at the 07 and the 06. also found out that Mopar was famous for screwing schematics up like this, I have tried to do an ohms test on the only two wires everything says. but the pins dont patch up. and pin 23 on c2 at the pcm is the MAP sensor. at least thats what Mopar and Mitchells say. only MTV pin on the pcm c2. is pin #16, reads 0.0002ohm. pin 23 on any of the pins at the MTV. O.L., no reading.
