I am the original owner of an 05 Mustang GT with 106,000 miles. Car is running fine but I got a P2196 code (O2 Bank 1 Sensor 1 stuck rich). I replaced the O2 sensor and reset the code. About 2 months later I got another code, this time P2195 (O2 Bank 1 Sensor 1 stuck lean). Again, car seems to be running normal. What would make a car run rich and then lean? I'm assuming something electrical and the original sensor wasn't bad? Any ideas?
Is your engine modified?
The engine isn't modified, but I do have a cold air intake and long tube headers (no cats) installed. These mods were done way back in 05 and it has a custom SCT tune so nothing new has been added recently.
Well realize the mass air flow sensor controls richness and leanness it could be that sense there's just going out cuz it can swing both ways. Something else wrong like it actually can switch from running to Rich to running to lean is almost impossible from One sensor other than the map sensor unless it's a problem in the main computer
Thanks for the reply. If the MAF sensor was going out, wouldn't the issue show up on both O2 sensors? I will replace it anyway. Someone suggested that there could be water in the connector so I'm going to try cleaning and drying the connectors with CRC cleaners and then applying heat shrink tubing to keep water out.
