Our large family needs more space. We're currently very cozy in a Honda Odyssey and are looking for a nice, used Ford Transit, Chevrolet Express, or possibly a Nissan NV. My wife is concerned about the lack of head restraints in the Express. Any thoughts on these full size passenger vans?
when it comes to reliability I can only make a comment on the Chevy Express because they are decent as long as it is NOT the 4.8 v8 then it is good is what Scotty said. The transit is made in Turkey and is fased on the Ford Focus.
Sorry that is the Transit Connect**
Chevy Express bc the Ford has ecoboost and Nissan is junk. Avoid the 4.8 and most of the Chevy Express are decent.
so 10 passenger right? Any other requirements?
The Ford will probably be better on fuel than the Chev, but I find that Fords have a rougher ride and very uncomfortable seats. I would recommend that you try them all and judge for yourself.
Yes. 10 or 12 seats is the primary requirement.
Concerns are just the lack of head restraints in the Express and I have some concerns about the longevity of the Turbo V6 in the Transit (the normally aspirated Transit is very slow!).
The seats in the Express are quick release, so they can be swapped.
That's interesting. Do you know what model year the seats become quick release? Are new seats easy to come by?
They have been mounted on rails for the past 20 years or so.
A variety of seats and chairs have been made by GM and aftermarket companies. But when it comes down to it, you can just unscrew the bench from the base and mount anything you like.
i would pass on the ford due to the ecoboost engine.
the chevy is better make sure you get the v8 diesel
i wouldnt buy a modern nissan because of all the problems theyre having
aren't diesels usually loud and stinky?
yes but diesel best for heavy vehicles
I know, but not very pleasant for passengers.
