Hi Scotty,
Going to the Philippines. Wanting a pickup truck.
I acknowledge Toyota's reliability and toughness. I would be considering a Hilux 2.4 4-cyl Turbo diesel G model 4x2. Diesel turbo 4-cyl seems to be the standard for mid-size trucks there.
But the Mazda BT-50 4x2 is there too, built in Thailand, with a 3.0 turbo diesel Isuzu powerplant.
The Mazda is about $3k less expensive given a deal I have been offered, but that would not be the deciding factor.
Any thoughts on Isuzu reliability?
I'm pushing 70 and it's my first new car! Any help much appreciated.
Thanks so much,
Mark
Hilux
Okay, thanks, your vote is appreciated.
Mabuhay! My first choice would be the Hilux. Not necessarily against the Mazda/Isuzu. But I have always admired the Hilux / Fortuner from afar, since we can't get them in the United States.
Yes, it's hard to ignore Toyota's legacy. Thanks for your response.
