PO306 on a 2010 Ford Taurus

My mothers car was driving fine up until when on the highway the check engine light came on and started flashing. The car immediately lost most of its power and she struggled to move herself over to the right. I scanned it and the code po306 came up for a cylinder 6 misfire. When we turned the car back on we were able to drive the rest of the way home just fine.

The car has 167K and we bought it used less than 10K miles ago. Not sure if the spark plugs are the original ones, but i doubt it? I'm not sure where to go from here. Do I take out the coils and see if the code moves? How do I figure out the issue?

Thanks,

A

You could swap the #6 coil with another to see if the misfire code travels with it. It wouldn't be a bad idea to check spark plugs especially if their age is unknown.
