Greetings from Tipton county! My girlfriend's 2012 Nissan Versa has poor acceleration. Do the transmissions in these car have a problem with slipping?
Was it always like this or you noticed a change recently?
Hello from California! Poor acceleration is a different symptom to transmission slipping, maybe you could describe it a little more. With transmission slipping you would see the tachometer jump up from maybe 2k to 4 or 5k as your accelerating and getting into a higher gear. This would mean that your car shifted up but then slipped back down to the previous gear causing the RPM spike, you hear this and feel it too, inertia wise. Just poor acceleration would mean that from a stop your car very slowly revs up/moves even though you are flooring or close to flooring the gas pedal.
Is her car giving a check engine light? A cheap 15 dollar scanner can pull the codes or if you live near an autozone they can check it for free. If you are lucky then it will be a misfire on one or two cylinders that is solved by replacing some spark plugs or ignition coils.
