Poor man's DIY air intake on a 2007 Crown Vic P71

Hi.

I've been told that enlarging the hole of the lower console of the air intake would give more power to my car and give more growl to my Crown Vic. I already have a KN filter. I've been advised not to install cold air intakes that might go the car into limp mode.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

The best thing a poor man can do for his 17-year-old car is to keep it stock to avoid expensive repairs.

I want the growling noise

get one of these

Might as well since some modern cars (performance ones) pipe in fake/“enhanced” engine noise.

.

Wouldn’t surprise me if some EVs have these someday.

@daywalker They already do. And fake "speeds/gears" too. Scotty talked about it yesterday.

Well I expected such an answer but you didn't reply my question though.

We did.  Adding a cold air intake will do nothing for you.  Scotty has talked in his past videos how pointless it is to install one on most cars.

.

High performance vehicles that have it have been tuned for it.

Then you’d have to look at modifying your exhaust system after the catalytic converter.  I wouldn’t mess with your intake.
