2017 Ford Explorer XLT, 74k miles, automatic no codes. The plastic dust guard on the flywheel was loose and a black odorless fluid present but does not leak onto the ground. While loose, I could see the black fluid but cleaned everything off and pushed the plastic cover into place.
Should I be worried about the leak and use AT205 like scotty suggested years ago?
Thanks
Well I would try the at205 reseal. Johnny, that means the rear main seal is leaking but if it's black it means your oil's really dirty and you should change it more often.
Thanks so much Scotty. It's interesting that checking the dipstick the oil is nice and bright still. Also this fluid from around the flywheel doesn't smell like oil , there is no smell. I just got this car used andI need to travel 3,000 miles soon towing a trailer this is bad news 🙁
No drip or spill since securing the plastic cover so far.
