I have a 2013 Buick verano it has 201,425 the lady that sold it to me said that they had a new engine put in due to warranty so it only has 100,000 miles on it, the rest of the car has 201,425 total. I bought a k&n air filter and didn't change or clean it for about three oil changes, due to them saying it good for 40,000 miles. I just got an oil change a week ago and ever since that oil change when I got on the highway to go to work going south on I-25 in Colorado in the 75 mph zone when I put my car in to cruise control at 65 and up to 75 I went into "power reduction mode. " First it'll sit at 5000 RPM and not gain speed. For about 10 seconds. Once it goes into power reduction mode I cannot gain speed at all. When I looked up power reduction mode it says that my car is not wrecked but I may want to get an oil change that's what Google told me. I've recently tried to in the last week since this has been happening take it to 75 manually and it has happened again as well. So I put in a fram air filter, checked my oil, and yesterday I went to Walmart and got a fuel treatment service from them. when I put the new air filter in it worked for a day and didn't have issues getting the 75. Then had issues, I tried taking it to 75 manually and I had power reduction mode come on. It got the fuel system treatment that they did at Walmart, some sort of compression bottle into the air intake under the hood and a bottle of valve treatment in the gas. It's a 2.4 litter engine, does pretty good on gas now that I've done what I've done... Other information I usually drive like 3,000 miles a little over a month. I have felonies so I can't get an apartment so I do sleep in my vehicle and it's hot and cold in Colorado so there's a lot of time idling where I have to use the heat or the AC. I would say normally it gets 15 hour days. I'm using mobile one engine oil. Since I did all that I did, I get to 55 and 65 with no issues but once I try to get it up to 75 since I did the fuel treatment it has been a lot better but obviously there's something wrong when my car still has issues manually getting up to 75 and with the cruise control as well.
AC ices up if it runs too long. You need a diagnostic scan to see whats up with the power reduction.
I'm going to pay Firestone to take a look at it.
Chain shops are generally a bad choice. You'd be better off finding a good independent mechanic.
i was just checking my engine oil and i heard some thing drop and then seen something and i looked i see "ice " falling of my car ive been driving all day and theres no snow or cold because its summer. i do have problems with my ac and heater, sometimes the fan works, some times it doesnt.
im geussing your not thinking a cheap one from walmart ?
Try Autozone, O'reilly, etc.
I'm going to pay Firestone to take a look at it. And also try and help me fix my AC because it turns on and turns off sometimes when I have it on full blast by itself. My check engine light is on.
